Staff from an Ayrshire bus operator are lacing up their walking shoes to raise money for a number of local charities this weekend.

The team from Stagecoach West Scotland are taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk on Sunday, April 28, and will be raising funds for the Night Before Christmas Campaign, a cause they've supported with great enthusiasm in the past.

They will also be raising money for Ayrshire Hospice, Crosshouse Children’s Fund, MND Scotland, Alzheimer Scotland and the Beatson Cancer Charity.

A team of 30 walkers, including directors, managers, drivers, yard operatives and admin staff, have been preparing for the big day and will be joined on the day by 40 'elves' from the Night Before Christmas campaign.

They will set off early in the morning to complete one of three walks: The Mighty Stride (22.7 miles), The Big Stroll (14.4 miles) and The Wee Wander (3 miles).

Collectively, the Stagecoach team are aiming to raise a minimum of £3,000 to support local charities in the communities they serve.

Fiona Doherty, managing director of Stagecoach West Scotland, said: “There is a nice buzz at Stagecoach as everyone gears up to take part in the Kiltwalk this weekend.

"We are proud to support the team at Night Before Christmas again for this year’s Kiltwalk as well as raising money for other local causes.

"Good luck to everyone taking part and raising funds for such amazing causes”.

The Night Before Christmas campaign was started in 2015 by Jodie McFarlane who was inspired by her daughter to provide gift boxes for local children who don’t receive any gifts at Christmas.

Through the generous donations of local people, each year they manage to distribute thousands of boxes throughout the west of Scotland.
