Cumnock Chronicle: Make up

A Drongan teenager wowed judges at a prestigious competition in Manchester 20 years ago. Amanda Bates, 19, was an HND Make-up Artistry student at James Watt College in Kilwinning. After coming fourth in the Cover Girl Make-up Scottish finals, she headed to Manchester for the national finals – using her twin sister Sarah as her model.


Cumnock Chronicle: Catrine show

The sun shone for the 117th Catrine cattle show in May 2004. Pictured are some of the fancy dress winners with the judges.


Cumnock Chronicle: Basketball

Youngsters from across Cumnock and Doon Valley were hoop-ing it up at a basketball camp held at Auchinleck Academy in May 2004.


Cumnock Chronicle: Angling

These future champion fishermen and women were reeling in the trophies as Catrine Angling Club held their annual Junior and under 10s competition in May 2004.


Cumnock Chronicle: Lacrosse

Kelloholm Primary were the best in Scotland when it came to lacrosse in 2004. They won the Scottish Championships at under 11 level and would soon compete for the UK title.


Cumnock Chronicle: Logan Primary's head teacher moved on in May 2004 (see below)

Pupils and staff at Logan Primary united to give their head teacher a warm send off in May 2004. Miss Lesley Brown had been headteacher at the school for years, but had been on secondment to Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education, a position which had been made permanent. Declan McGilvery and Sandy Nicol presented Miss Brown with a bouquet of flowers.
